Founder and director
Richard Frederic Bertossa
Born in Vienna, he directs the Geneva Institute for ASI Resilience. He studies what the individual faces when AI systems decide more than the people who built them.
At twenty-five he served in an advisory role on the Data Protection Council of the Austrian Federal Chancellery. He then worked on Wall Street on financial technology for Standard & Poor’s and Bloomberg. He founded technology companies, built a factory in China and has lived in more than thirty countries on four continents. He speaks German, English and Spanish fluently. He is the father of five children.
On video: what we do
The core statement
Twenty percent extinction does not mean eighty percent safety. Nothing is on record about the other eighty.
The demand: show the math. Whoever names a probability for loss of control discloses which outcomes they distinguish, how they split them and by which rule they update the number.
„If we create them so they don’t care about us, they will probably wipe us out.“
Geoffrey Hinton, Nobel laureate, BBC Newsnight, 20 Jan 2026
The book

“Der KI-Kontrollverlust”, published in German in September 2026, 370 pages. The Institute’s working papers, sources and Loss of Control Register went into it. English edition in preparation.
